Wimmera Tennis Council Region 2
Junior Circuit Points Tournament Results From March 1st, 2009
The Final Junior Circuit Points Tournament for the 2008 / 9 tennis season was held at Central Park & Haven tennis courts on Sunday March 1st 2009.
Central Park hosted the tournament with President Peter Rintoule saying “it was a great day of high standard competition, with a couple of new faces making it through to the finals in both singles and doubles events.
145 players from all parts of the Wimmera Tennis Council Region, competed.”
Regional Executive members viewed players in action, noting potential representatives for future Regional teams.
Challenges were thrown out to top ranked players. Major upsets of the day were when Jae McGrath defeated Stuart McRae in the semi-final of the 15&Over Boys Singles event, then went on and to narrowly defeat Lachie King in the Final 6-5 games. Jase Chapple worked hard to have an easy win over Jordan Clark in 14&Under boys. Ryan Kemp had an expected victory in 12&Under boys, with Joe Harrison and Ethan McRae having their usual tussle in 10&Under Boys. Joe took victory on the day, but Ethan won the aggregate for the 2008/9 Junior Circuit Points Tournaments.
Brittany Nitschke has thrown out warning bells to the 10&Under girls, with Brittany playing in her first year of tennis and her very first tournament defeated several experienced players on her way to the final, losing 6-3 to Aggregate Points winner Kaylee Schmidt.
Sisters Laura and Jesse Dixon continued to dominate the 12&Under girls section. 14&Under player Georgia McLennan was too strong for Paige Lloyd, as was promising rising star 15&Over player Rachel McRae who had little trouble in disposing of her opposition players.
