Lachlan King wins the Dags Quality Screen Printing and Hip Pocket Workwear Sports Star Of The Month Award for August 2008

Rising young tennis player Lachlan King from Horsham has taken out the latest monthly Award in the Horsham Sports and Community Club Sports Star of the Year Award. Lachlan receives an embroidered Sports Star of the Year jacket courtesy of DAGS Quality Screen Printing and voucher from Hip Pocket Workwear for having been the successful monthly winner.

Last year he won the Under 14 Singles Consolation Wilson Tennis Series at Melbourne Park, the Nestle Junior Development Series in Melbourne, was runner up in the State Schoolboys titles and was the youngest male player ever to play in Central Wimmera Tennis Association Pennant Competition.

In July Lachlan was selected to be one of the inaugural members of the UB WestVic Academy of Sport Tennis Squad which will provide him with an opportunity to access a

range of diagnostic and specialised skills training sessions. He will also represent the Wimmera Region at the Ambassadors Cup for ages 15 & under here in Horsham on the Horsham Lawn Courts in November as well as representing the area at the Victorian Country Championships (open age) again being hosted by Horsham Lawn in January 2009.

Monthly winners are eligible to win the $1,000 Sports Star Scholarship and trophy at the 2009 February presentations so if you know of someone who is doing well at their sport and deserves some recognition, why not nominate them. All nominees in the monthly award will also be presented with certificates signed by the Minister for Sport and Recreation, James Merlino, and the monthly winner receives a free ticket to the annual presentation and a specially struck medallion from Wimmera Trophies and Gifts.
