Horsham and District Equestrian Sports Club member Susan McKenry has been successful in winning the Sports Star of the Month Award for September.  Susan this year has won dressage events at Rokewood and Hamilton and placed at events at Portland, Avoca, Dunolly and more locally at Grampians and Horsham and District level.   Her ability combined with a determination to improve her rankings has seen her commit to a very busy agenda of competition in the last twelve months.  Currently she is sitting in the top ten in the state for dressage for the Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria. 

A year ago Susan was a Level Four rider and now competes in Level two and Level One – a sure sign of her commitment to the sport which she so enjoys.  Earlier this year Susan also competed over a three month period in the Western Victoria Dressage series and at the conclusion was named Champion of Level One on her horse Lochanside Wonder.    She was also a member of the Horsham and District Equestrian Sports Club team that finished in the top ten at the Victorian Top Teams Trophy Showing Championships held at Werribee Park.

Susan now joins other previous monthly winners Betty Cozens (Lawn Bowls), Ashley Bolwell (Shooting), Josh Pahl (Golf), Tristan Barrett (Hockey), Lachie Robinson (Volleyball) and Jake Roberts (Football)  in line to win the overall title of Sports Star of the Year and collect the Horsham Sports and Community Club Title of Wimmera Sports Star of the Year as well as the $1,000 Sports Star scholarship
