Jake Roberts wins the Dags Quality Screen Printing and Hip Pocket Workwear Sports Star Of The Month Award for July 2007

Winner for the month of July is talented Laharum Football Club member Jake Roberts who was recently was named the “Tim Watson Medal” winner as the best player in the Inter Regional School Football match when Horsham College triumphed against Monivae College. Jake also shone in the East Versus West Elite Under 18 competition, was a member of the successful Horsham and District Football League Interleague team and exhibits great sportsmanship qualities which his club applauds and has supported via this nomination.

At 18 years of age Jake has been playing football for quite a time exhibited by winning the 1988 Most Consistent Player for the Under 16 Laharum team and repeating this feat for the same team in 2005! An avid Geelong supporter, Jake names Jimmy Bartels as his favourite player and hopes to embark on a tertiary career after completing VCE this year.
“Jake is a great young guy who is always keen to learn and improve. He is a dedicated player and gives his all when playing and training”, says Geoff Burdett, Wimmera Football Manager for the Ballarat Rebels who admires these types of young men who are great role models for the sport of football.
Jake now joins other previous monthly winners Betty Cozens (Lawn Bowls), Ashley Bolwell (Shooting), Josh Pahl (Golf) and Tristan Barrett (Hockey) in line to win the overall title of Sports Star of the Year and collect the Horsham Sports and Community Club Title of Wimmera Sports Star of the Year as well as the $1,000 Sports Star scholarship.
