Winner for the month of May is Tristan Barrett - a versatile and competitive young man who has is taking every opportunity to achieve at the highest levels.  Tristan is a member of the UB WestVic Academy of Sport Hockey team which plays every Friday evening in Melbourne as part of the Victorian Under 17 Pennant Competition – the only Wimmera player to earn a place in this top of the table placed state side.  He trains in Ballarat each Monday evening to ensure his place in this team – a big commitment for this 14 year old.

Last year Tristan became a member of the Bendigo based Northern Zone Vic Stix Talent Squad which competed at Albury Wodonga and in the Vic Stix Zone Championships and is currently combining his UB WestVic Academy commitments with Melbourne based training as part of the Country Cobras – the Under 17 Country Week Squad.

In April this year Tristan also qualified as an Under 17 Central Umpire for the Wimmera Football Umpires Association and manages to fit his umpires training and weekend duties around his love of hockey.   He credits his family support as being the key to enabling him to manage his school, sport and officiating in some measure of equilibrium.
