The Horsham Sports and Community Club Sports Star of the Year Award continues to develop as a prestigious award that seeks to recognise and applaud specific individuals and groups who make a significant sporting contribution to the Wimmera community.

All category awards were presented alongside the traditional "Sports Star of the Year" on the 19th February, 2007 at the Horsham Sports and Community Club.

Last year's winner of the prestigeous Horsham Sports & Community Club Wimmera Sports Star of the Year Award, Mark O'Brien was inducted into Hall Of Fame.

Eddy Nagorcka took out the main award with superb performances in his chosen sport of Small Bore Shooting.

Australian Under 21 Small Bore Shooter Eddy Nagorcka has represented Australia in both Croatia and Germany in the last 12 months where he attained some of his personal best results as well as a top 20 placing in the 3 position event.

He puts his much improved form down to a dedicated regime where he devoted two hours every night after work, every weekend and then two weeks full time training in the lead up to the overseas meets and his results speak for themselves.

Eddy has competed in a number of state and national events and boasts 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals from other international competitions but it has been his efforts at the World Championships Zagreb (Croatia) that have put him to the forefront of the sport of shooting in Australia.

The National Head Coach, Miro Sipek, is confident that with additional training and experience Eddy has the talent and determination necessary to represent his country at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
