A change in government , and some sweeping changes will affect many of our clubs during the next few months.
Liquor Licencing has a new Director Mark Brennan, who is known to be a man who has a common sense approach to Liquor Licencing. It is expected he will take a firm but realistic direction in the way clubs and hotels will operate in the coming months.
Most of our Good Sports clubs will get a reduction in their licence fee for the year 2011-12.
RSA courses have been altered, and will take longer to complete, and will have a closed book test at the end. The course covers a wider field of licencing than previously covered, but will cover all aspects likely to be encountered by a person working at a licenced premises. I am hoping to be able to teach a slightly modified version for volunteer club members.
RSA certificates should be copied and the name and number of the certificate be put in a safe place. A free online refresher course must be completed every 3 years from then on.
If the original certificate is lost, a copy should be obtained from the group conducting the original course, and if this is unknown ,you can contact liquor Licencing on 1300 650 367.
At the moment I have a supply of club incident register books, and clubs can get a copy from me at the assembly office. This is a very practical way to protect your club and members from possible future problems.
I would like to wish all our Good Sports clubs all the best for 2011.
Ian Fechner
Good Sports Officer
